Our wonderful park begins right over our fence. However, I have noticed littering and laws being broken on a daily basis. Just today there were children riding their motorized scooters all around the entire park pavement while their parents sat under the sign NO MOTORIZED VEHICLES ALLOWED. Yesterday, I looked out by back door and it looked liked like a lawn of orange sunflowers. I walked out to the area where a group of teenagers were leaving. I asked them if they threw those orange halves on the ground..they said yes. I said pick them up! They did - no sass. I also asked them if they would do that to their parents yard, they said no. I have been doing this type of thing ever since we moved here (about 5 years). This was the DAY...I called 911, explained the situation. The operator said she would send a patrol car to the area. I thanked her then enjoyed the beautiful park the rest of the day. There are a few deer that come up each night to eat corn that we put out for them when there is no green grass. Thank you for listening.

I am very happy to see the basketball goals back up. My oldest son was having to go to another subdivision's park to play basketball and I am thrilled he can now play close to home. This not only keeps the kids fit but also helps to keep some of the older ones out of trouble. Thank you!

Jason: Thank you for your comments. We asked several times for help from the community due to problems experienced at the park which ranged from actual physical confrontations with outsiders to a variety of drug use with actual needles found in the area of our playset. It took a long time to make a determination to remove the goals. It was not an easy choice and as I said we repeatedly asked for help from the community. Whether it be coincidence or not, we have not had the drug paraphernalia since. The Board has decided to reinstall the goals on a trial basis. If the problems return, it is likely the goals will be removed and something else done with the area.

I truly appreciate your offer of help and look forward to seeing you in the park. Please introduce yourself if you see me. I would like to meet you.

Jason, this forum is monitored but the only censorship you will see if to prevent abusive or obscene material or words from being posted. I've run many sites and chat boards. I know that if we do not monitor the discourse, we run the risk of trolls bullying and eventually driving away intellectual users or families.

I agree 100% with John. Is there a discount on the HOA due's because we have a incomplete park? I think it is truly SAD when I drive through the Stoneridge Subdivision and there are people everywhere. Playing walking and yes playing basketball. If the HOA is concerned about all the extra people there leaving trash maybe instead of a park "Marshal" we have a volunteer to help police the trash. Why should we be stuck up and not let anyone come and play. Maybe we should learn from the example of Stoneridge subdivision and I'm quoting the article in the social tab

"Hunters Mill has again been granted access to a neighboring pool. Stone Ridge HOA has graciously invited us to purchase outside membership passes for the use of their pool this summer."

And to answer your first question you are going to have about my post. YES I would help and volunteer my time with trash pick up!!

What I'm concerned about are how many CHILDREN I have to dodge when I'm driving up my street to go home. And yes these KIDS are playing basketball. I don't have a basketball rim at my house and if my kids and I want to play we have to go down the street and play at my neighbors in the street.

Y'all are concerned with TRASH CANS being seen. But it okay to have portable basketball hoops everywhere and blocking sidewalks. And yet you could care less if our kids are in danger. Where exactly are your priorities?

And the last thing I want to say is, whoever made the choice to take the hoops down played basketball or had children who played basketball you would have never taken the hoops down. It’s real easy to take something away if YOU could care less about it.

John or anyone hit me up if you want to go play I'll bring the tools!!

Comment on Set your clocks–for a new electric station by John

Actually...the "front part" of the community from Thousand Oaks to the dry creek bed between Alder Creek and Mason Crest) is fed on a different power line that has been maintained according to the engineers I have been talking with at CPS.

The section of the community that has had the worst power experience, 32 outages in one year, is on the tail end of a circuit that CPS did not know about its existence prior to 2008.

After much negotiation and discussion (this has been my personal mission to get this resolved), did the mayor's office, the City Manager's office, and CPS' board of directors determine that the existing infrastructor for those of us fed from the circuit which runs from Nachodoches, through MacAllister Park, through Stone Ridge and into the Eastern section of the Hunters Mill community was inadequate.

It was also determined that this new substation would be take a significant load off of the existing circuit and provide better reliability for the city as a whole.

As for your claims of tree cutting, CPS does that and they have been doing that since 2007 when I first brought this to their attention shortly after being voted on to the Board of Directors and with Greg Babcock's guidance, I was able to get this ball rolling.

Understand that from 1998, when the first families moved into this community, until 2007, CPS was unaware of anyone being on the very tip end of the circuit which this new substation will feed.

And I believe you were talking to the wrong people. No one in the field is authorized to speak on behalf of the utility or state why an outage has occurred or may occur in the future. And believe me, hundreds felt the pain when in 2008 we had an 18 hour outage which forced many residents to lose electricity, electronics, food, and other items which home owners insurance would not cover and CPS refused to compensate for.

I know we didn't vote to take the rims down. Why didn't they ever go back up. I think if this rule was not followed we should not have to follow any other rule. I am all for rules but come on.

People drive down the street and see no BB goals. We plain look ghetto!!! I guess I should pay my HOA short the finding for the sports court since the only thing you can do their is hop around in a circle.

Put the goals up. Next time I want to play BB their I am going to bring a ladder and my own rim. There is NO RULE on putting up my own rim.... We have to vote right....

This is good news but maybe not for everyone. I talked with CPS and it seems from the creek on Rowe Dr to the end of Alder Creek is fed off of a service pole behind MAJOR (an AC parts dealer company on Wetmore next to the Valero gas station). That pole goes into Stone ridge above ground and through peoples back yards WHO NEVER CUT their trees. My power always seems to go out while people down the street and across the street have power. I called and visited CPS with numerous concerns and complaints for them to fix it. They field crew (guy working on the fuses behind MAJOR told me they don't have the budget and cannot cut limbs off of trees until a work order is put in. I was going to place a work order for every single house that our service passes through but they would not allow me to.

For the last three years I have them send me a letter which takes months for them to provide me with the number of times the power has been out by working on the lines, weather or any other cause. Three years ago it was 40 times. Two years ago was 28 or 29. Last year they sent me a letter letting me know about improvements and haven't given me the numbers.

If they fix it and 2011 turns out to be a better year then I will be happy. Our neighborhood is service by three different connections. I would pay CPS to connect me to the service across the street because when I have no power I can always read a book from the lights on my neighbors driveway.
